Bentonite Clay: I'm sure you've probably heard of Bentonite clay. Keep in mind that this clay also comes in many other variations like potassium, sodium, calcium, and aluminum. The most commonly used types are sodium and calcium bentonite. This grey clay is super popular and very well known for its detoxifying and healing properties. Bentonite clay comes from weathered volcanic ash and naturally holds a negatively electromagnetic charge, making it a magnetic king when mixed with water. This clay attracts and purifies your body of bacteria, impurities, excess oils, and build-up, so it's perfect for stubborn blackheads and overall a great mix for Oily and Acne-prone skin types.
Fuller's Earth Clay: Fuller's Earth Clay contains skin-loving minerals magnesium, quartz, silica, iron, calcium, calcite, and dolomites. Just like Bentonite Clay, Fuller's Earth Clay is derived from volcanic ash and works great to absorb oil. Outside of its powerful ability to absorb oil, this clay works to reduce the appearance of blemishes and acne scars, making it a great clay to treat pigmentation. Oily Skin types this clay is for you. Balanced (normal) skin types this clay will work for you too, just make sure you only use this as a mask once a week!
Kaolin Clay: Kaolin Clay is a light and fine white clay (that can come in many colors) that is the result of not volcanic ash, but chemical weathering from rocks in hot and moist climates like tropical rain forests. You can find Kaolin Clay mixed with other clays quite often and sometimes just by itself in face care products. This clay works to absorb oil, purify the skin, reduce inflammation, exfoliate the skin, and acts as a cleanser in one of the mildest forms. Kaolin Clay is perfect for Sensitive, Dry, and Balanced (normal) skin types.
Rhassoul Clay: Rhassoul Clay is a mineral-rich muddy blend that comes from both a volcanic activity and geothermal changes sourced from Morocco. This brown clay works to repair damaged skin, soothe irritation, and boost collagen production. Rhassoul clay is milder than Bentonite in regards to absorbing oils and detoxifying impurities, but this is one of the most hydrating clays that works to firm and revitalize your skin. This clay reduces blemishes, dryness, flakiness, improves texture, and will leave your skin moisturized. Rhassoul Clay is a star player for Mature, Combo, and Dry skin types.
Skin Tip: Now keep in mind that clay masks are designed to absorb excess oil from your skin. So activators like honey and tea are great for dry and sensitive skin and mixes like astringents and floral water are great for oily, combo and balanced skin.
